"My internship at John Harrington Photography wasn't quite what I thought I wanted when I began my quest for an internship. However, I believe now that I was blessed with this opportunity to learn about the important aspects of being a photographer, running a business smoothly. The lessons have been more practical and more beneficial than I could have hoped them to be."

Least
enjoyed: |
| "The times spent out of the office. I got to observe John at shoots and I picked up so much from his relations with clients and more of the technical bits that I was out of the loop on. I also enjoyed the moments that I got to pick Johns brains for tips on being a photographer and the other useful advice he dispensed. " |
|
"Doing the necessary but mundane everyday office duties such as filing contracts and model releases. It was so unexciting but also important because a good photographer runs an organized system and I know in the future that I will model my own filing/organizing system after his." |
What
I learned:
"I think the most important lesson that I will walk away with is that photography is a profession that is filled with talented people, but often it isnŐt so much your talent that dictates your success but your business sense and work ethic. John is not only a talented photographer but he is also a savvy business man. Out of respect for his craft he has gone to great lengths to ensure that every aspect of his business is as efficient as possible. I also noted the professional manner in which he interacted with his clients. Most importantly I resolved to have a newfound respect for my work and that when the time comes, I should follow John's example of not compromising the integrity or quality of my work and demanding that same respect when I market my photographic services. I have learned so many valuable lessons in my internship with John Harrington Photography, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity."
