Reina Nishida, Junior at Ithaca College, B.S Cinema and Photography,
Concentration in Still Photography, Summer 2003 |
“After
two years of artistic photography training at my college, I was looking
for someone to teach me the ways of applying my knowledge in a real
photography business. John was the perfect mentor I could ask for
in my situation." |

Least
enjoyed: |
| "I
most enjoyed the portfolio making process (believe it or not), because
I liked the fact that I was involved in the project from the very
beginning to the end and saw the process come together as a whole.
I found this to be one of the most valuable learning experiences here
at John’s office. Although I disliked the endless excel work
I had to do, in the end I look back on it and was glad that I did
it. It was a very rewarding feeling when I was finally finished." |
- |
"I
would have to say the slow office days when John was out of the office
for about a week on an assignment to Alaska. I was often lost and
found myself being bored and stuck at the office all day." |
What
I learned:
"I
learned from this internship, the amount of work it takes in order
to build a successful photography business. John’s knowledge
and his ability to work with all different types of clients blew
me away. The most important lesson I learned was that talent is
not enough to succeed in this business. Coming from a college that
teaches me only the artistic aspects of photography, I feel that
I was able to learn a lot of what’s not taught in a classroom."
