Rogers Walker, Junior, George Washington University, Fall 2002.

Most enjoyed - Least enjoyed:
"I learned practical photographic applications for my personal photography, including commercial lighting techniques and little-known tricks that promise to make my life easier as a photographer. John provides a revealing insight into the mechanics of the photographic business. During one shoot, I enjoyed going to the French Embassy and surfeiting myself on excellent food." - "John is a brash human being. Consequently, I often found it hard to work with him, meanwhile, opting to keep my mouth shut as to my opinions in order to complete the term of my internship. His driving is also pretty scary."

What I learned:

"If you wish to learn how to be a successful photographer from a business standpoint, you will certainly benefit from John's instruction. More than anything, I think, I came to understand American popular culture a little better."

(Left) - On Roger's first day, we ended up inside the Pentagon for a shoot for Hewlett Packard for the unveilling of a HP-sponsored Kiosk carrying messages to the troops overseas and at home from across America. Roger's job was to carry along the digital workstation and have the camera equipment at the ready.

(Above) While not a part of the shoot requested by the client, I thought it would be fun to have my first assistant (right) and both of the interns on hand pose for a test shot for a shoot we were doing for Reuters on Congressional ethics inquiries in the wake of the MCI-Worldcom and Enron scancals. On the left is Rogers.
